Vanja This is where oriental sound meets instrumental post-rock and then beautiful things happen. The album is in perfect balance, the flow is smooth and the ratio of clean vs distorted sound (of serenity vs turmoil) is just right. There's even a dash of stoner (14 Eyes, Forest of Fertility) for good measure. All in all, brilliant! Favorite track: 無我夢中 Anatman.

Xingtian is a mythological figure who first appeared in ancient Chinese text Shan Hai Jing. In bone scripts, he was symbolized into a single character as ‘men’. In his immortal existence, his flesh and soul crystallized and he never ceased to seek enemies, trapped in his own frustration. But paradoxically there must be a purpose of the gifted significance of men’s mortality. In being alive people find the beauty of death, and in our inevitable death the purest pleasure of existence.

With all respect due to Nick DiSalvo, who is incredibly talented, the proggy vocals are not what I love the most with Elder. What I love the most, I'll admit, is the incredible synthy, krauty goodness, from the track Sonntag on the previous album to the wonderful delving LP Hirschbrunnen. I think these instrumental Sessions were a major step in that direction, and I love them dearly for it. Coraxio
